Beginning Verzenio
I have been on Ibrance for 18 months (first drug after stage 4 met diagnosisbut the side effects became severe enough that onc advised a few months off. Now I am to begin Verzenio and am feeling a bit apprehensive based on what I’ve read about it. Any advice, words of wisdom or just encouragement out there? Really could use some right now.

Ihave been on Ibrance for almost 24 months, but a nodule in my left upper lung has been growing and ONC said to stop Ibrance and he put me on Verzenio. I don't have the drug yet and know nothing about it except its known to cause diarrhea. I haven't looked for a Verzenio thread on BCO yet. Good luck!

sorry to hear about progression in lung, Lee64. I have been on Verzenio for 4 months. (after 3 cycles of Ibrance on progressively lower doses all of which tanked my anc) I struggled with diarrhea at the beginning. I have had good luck with Meta Mucil. I take capsules (because they don't have sugar or aspartame). I've found 4-5 twice a day keeps things in check....sometimes heads me toward constipation in which case I back off. Still on highest dose and haven't had diarrhea in about 6 weeks. Sorry to hear about progression. Also there is good advice on the Verzenio/abemaciclib thread. all best to both.

Another MBC participant let me know that there is a study going on for MBC patients taking Kisqali, Ibrance or verzinio. They are paying $175 for completion of an online survey. they will also pay your spouse/partner. If anyone is interested you can contact them directly by email or phone.

My symptoms hit at about a week in. At 150mg of Verzenio, I had diarrhea several times a day. Just one dose of imodium fixed the problem, but my MO didn't want me taking the Imodium daily, so she reduced me to 100mg of Verzenio. Since then I've had no obvious issues.

this is really helpful to know I am at day 3 of the same dosage and have had a few twinges in my stomach but nothing horrible. It sounds as though symptoms worsen as the meds accumulate in the system. Thanks for your respons
