Good afternoon, I hope you are very well. I am writing to ask for help since 1 week ago I realized that I suffer from breast implant Illness and I'm worry because I arrived 5 months ago with my husband to Vancouver Canada, I got implants 10 years ago and I started with symptoms 6 years ago, but when I consulted they diagnosed me with thyroid problems. Please I need to know what I must do because I have many ASIA symptoms that until a week I did not know that they were due to breast implants, so I urgently need surgery to remove them, but I do not know what to do, could you please help me with data Of the doctors and organizations that could help me and guide me to know what I can do, Does the Msp cover this type of surgery? If not, what cost would it have to do it for?. Thank-you in advanced for the information and help you can give me. Thank you very much and blessings for you all.

I think exbrn's reply to the other post you started is accurate. Start with a plastic surgeon. Or at least advocate for your primary care doc to refer you to a plastic surgeon. I don't know if they would consider this "urgent" after 6 years. Sorry I'm not in Canada so I have no idea about insurance coverage or costs.

Hopefully you can find a group that supports ASIA auto-immune disease. There are lots of results if you google.

    CAV13,
It will help to stick to one thread rather than starting multiple threads. It will allow answers and information to be in one place. I responded to you on your other thread.

    CAV13,

I am in Canada. Healthcare differs province by province, but as I general rule I believe that if you have implants due to breast reconstruction surgery (i.e. you've had breast cancer surgery or you had a bilateral mastectomy due to being high risk), then if the PS agrees that your implants should be removed and/or replaced, all costs will be covered.

    Hi CAV13,

If you had the implants placed cosmetically you will be responsible for the cost to have themremoved.

If you are eligible for health coverage in the Canadian medical system AND you had implants placed as reconstruction due to cancer, you should have the expenses covered.

You can email your ministry of health in your province for clarification on what's covered or call them.
