Chemo Regimen Question

Hello everyone. I haven't posted in a while because I've been kinda out of it and just thinking too much. Started chemo November 5th. I felt fine the first few days but then I got the chills, body aches, sneezing, sore throat, general fatigue, diarrhea, and a rash on my face, chest and back. I'm ok most of the time, and have been given methylprednisolone and clindamycin to treat my rash.

My question is on my regimen of Docetaxel, Trastuzumab and Pertuzumab. Is that regimen as effective as the same regimen plus Carboplatin for Stage 2, hormone positive and HER2+ breast cancer? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I'm relieved a bit that I started and feel like I'm doing something, but still so terrified. 😰

I honestly don't know. Mine is stage 1, so most of what I've read applies to stage 1, or at least that is what I've paid attention to. I do know that the trastuzumab has been a huge, huge advancement for her2+ breast cancer. I don't know that much about pertuzumab because it isn't in my plan. The stage 2 question: I'd ask your MO, or get a second opinion. These treatments are for saving or salvaging as much or our lives as we can, and you deserve an informed answer to that question, and to have the most appropriate treatment that gives you the beat chance of a positive outcome as possible.

I'm sorry I'm not more informed on stage 2 triple positives. I'm also sorry about the rash and other side effects. I wish I could tell you the rash goes away. I'm doing my 12th taxol infusion Wed, and the rash has just been a pain. My understanding is that it starts to resolve for real about 2 weeks after the last infusion.

Lollypop - lots of good information on this thread.

I found it very helpful to join the current chemo thread when I was in treatment. Look for November chemo or Chemo fall 2021. People at the same point or in the thread just before were right there.
