Pre-menopausal & elective oophorectomy/hysterotomy - regrets?

Options

MO said that 14 months into Zoladex/Exemestane it's my call whether to continue with shots or get an oophorectomy. Anyone choose to do so for purely quality of life/convenience/scheduling issues? Thoughts? I loathe the shots. They are painful, stressful to return to the infusion center, and a massive inconvenience. I've had two shots rescheduled due to travel/illness already and I think it's impractical to say that I'll be healthy/available/in town, etc. every 28 days for another 9 years. Anyone weigh this same issue?

You know....my MO said that I could do the shots and then at some point I would just get the ooph/hyster because I would get sick of coming in. So in my mind it was...do it now or do it later.

I never did the shots. I got an ooph/hysterectomy right after radiation. That way isn't for everyone....but I did quite well with it. Don't regret it at all. Looking back, I'm so happy I did it that way. I just felt like I was doing the right thing for me. For my situation. I looked at it as a new chapter of my life. I gained a new quality of life. Not worrying about these ovaries. And what they were and weren't producing. I just felt done. Again, everyone is different. This was just me.

All in all I am doing well and would do it that way again. Good luck with your decision!
