DCIS turned Invasive?

Hi All! I'm looking for people with similar experiences. I was diagnosed with DCIS, but the doctors made it very clear that it could actually be invasive once we see the full masses. My largest mass was 8cm x 11cm x 12 cm. I had several more masses through the breast as well. It was VERY visible to the naked eye and I was having discharge. I also had 9 suspicious lymph nodes and they removed my 6 sentinel ones.

I just had a DMX done in Wednesday and am waiting on my full pathology. I guess I'm wondering what the chances are that this could still just be DCIS and has not become invasive. Waiting for the results is brutal.

Hi Amacadams, while no one can predict your chances, I'll share my experience. Eleven years ago I had a SMX for a 9cm+ DCIS lesion in my right breast. Everyone expected to find at least microinvasive IDC, but my pathology came back 100% DCIS without any invasive tissue.

The waiting is oh-so-hard. I hope your recovery goes well and that you get good news on your final path report.
