What should the follow-up be, if any, for a palpable lump that cant be seen in imaging? The radiologist said that it's likely just breast tissue. But my gynocologist sent me to see a surgeon to follow up.

It's somewhat flat, like a mini kidney bean (maybe 1 cm) and i can only feel a clear edge on one side. i can make it move a little. It can only be felt when laying on my back with my arm up.

I have an appt with a surgeon on Monday. I'm afraid they will just say "wait and see". But should I be getting an MRI? A biopsy? Or just waiting and watching?

Here's my short backstory:

In June, I had a clear routine mammogram and ultrasound (for dense breasts). Late July, I felt a lump and noticed my left breast was fuller than before. It used to be a lot smaller than my right one and now they are even. I dont know if this is recent or over years since I had a baby. I just noticed it.

So, I was sent for a diagnostic mammo & ultra that found NOTHING, BIRADS 1. I was ready to celebrate, but my gyno insisted a breast specialist to look at it.

So I have an appt, but what kind of follow-up test do you think i need, if any?

Thank You. I was on here a couple of years ago for my mom, who is doing great now. Thanks for your feedback in the past!

I first want to welcome you HeretoHelp though I'm sure you'd prefer not to have to be here... I'm glad you have an appointment with a breast surgeon. I'll be interested in what they say..... If it were me I MIGHT be comfortable waiting for 6 month follow up though given nothing showed up maybe it doesn't then either and that's not ok..... So depending on what the surgeon recommends you could certainly ask for an MRI. I'd surely ask about that if the surgeon doesn't bring it up. You could then discuss pros and cons. Then see what you're comfortable with. The surgeon may recommend it to begin with? Please let us know. Want to wish you well with the appointment.
