Hi, everyone. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with burning and itching of their breast years after radiation? It has been four years for me since I had radiation. I discovered a few months ago that my breast had what looked like spider veins on it and it burned and itched but no amount of scratching provided any relief. My breast surgeon just left. Moved across the country (how dare she abandon me, haha) and no one seems to know what to do with me. They believe it is telangiectasis and sent me to dermatology for laser consult. Laser consult said that laser would take care of the appearance but would most likely not take care of the burning/itching sensation. Just wondering if anyone had a similar experience with this? Thank you

I literally just went directly to the forums to see if there was SOMEONE that mentioned this itching!! I have very high histamine levels in general so itching is pretty normal for me anywhere on my body if I don't manage it.

I had a hematoma after my reconstruction and it made scar tissue that is hard and drives me nutts. This is 5 years later now. I was kind of massaging the tissue in the shower hoping to break some up but for the last 2 days post that, I have wanted to claw my boob off!! I'm sure it has to do with the nerves b/c all wonky and breaking up scar tissue but that doesn't help the itching. The only thing that I have found gives me temporary relief is to fill a bag of ice and put on my boob. It kind of numbs the itching sensation. I learned this trick when I was pregnant and was itching like crazy on my stomach with no relief regardless of the scratching. Ice was the only thing that stopped it. Would love someone to weigh in on what's happening technically! 🤣

Ice would work temporarily. My oncologist believes it is from the radiation since they can see what looks like spider veins all over the top of my breast. They are calling it telangiectasis. They suggested I have laser treatment. I went to derm. They said they didn’t think the laser would relieve the itching. It would only make it look better but they are willing to try it for a fee, of course. I don’t want to spend the $$ out of pocket if it won’t work. Wondering if anyone knows…?
