Hi. I was just diagnosed last week with metastatic breast carcinoma of lobular type in my lymph node. Had a breast MRI yesterday. My breasts were fine except for my friendly fibroadenoma hanging out. I will see my breast surgeon on Monday along with getting my genetics done too. I don't know the stage or extent of the cancer is yet. Has anyone experienced the cancer just showing up in the lymph node and not the breast?

hi Kkoala, sorry you find yourself here.

Yes, this can happen & there are others like you.

One thing I just want to clarify for you is the word metastatic. In pathology reports, they report any spread outside of the organ of origin (which is the breast) as metastatic. But in common discussions and staging, spread to local lymph nodes (like in the armpit) is still just local, potentially curable breast cancer & is completely different than spread to other organs or distant lymph nodes (which is known as metastatic breast cancer or stage 4 breast cancer and has treatments but not cure).

So don't go googling metastatic breast canoer.

do you know anything about the hormone markers yet? That determines a lot of the treatment plan.

Thank you for your advice. Being me I'm a Googler, already have. But I realise it's just a term and I'm just waiting to see the Dr on Monday to find out everything. I'm not too worried right now.

    ER: 80.9%, PR: 47.1%, HER2: 0, Ki-67: 4.5%.
