It's been five days since my oncoplastic lumpectomy, recovery is going well, but one thing I am noticing is.... holy mackerel is my skin sensitive! I can't stand the thought of wearing anything but the softest, gentlest fabrics. Two sports bras that I bought before surgery went straight into the trashcan-- they may as well have been sandpaper.

The post surgery bra they gave me at the hospital is doing it's job, but I have covered all of the incisions with layers of gauze on top of the steristrips, with more gauze tucked under the band for extra cushioning.

I really need to order a few more sports bras-- I assume I will live in them for the next few weeks. Any recommendations? I heard good things about Natori. The kind that fasten in the front, obviously, no scratchiness, no underwires. If I could hire kittens to sit on my chest I would.

Thanks in advance for any recs!

I found the only thing I could tolerate for awhile was Fruit of the Loom plain cotton front hook bras. And I mainly wore those to hold the bandages in place.

I found a soft modal bralette! Not as supportive as a sports bra but I figure if it holds the bandages and padding in place, it is doing it's job.

Hi there! I recently had a lumpectomy and a SND and the bra they gave me in the hospital is basically the only bra I've been wearing as I'm still healing. It's made by a company called Masthead. They are a bit pricey but well worth it. I purchased a black one. It was funny, the nurse brought one in and once I tried it on, it was a bit snug so she went to get the next size up which was more comfortable since I was swollen and already have large breast. But she tossed the one I tried on in the soiled linen bin and I quickly snatched it out because I knew as I began to heal it would fit a lot better - lol. And once I saw how much these bras cost ($62) I was glad I snatched it out of the bin. They are extremely soft and have velcro for the straps, the sides and in the front for closure. It's my new favorite bra!
