Seattle surgery - in need of caregiver

Has anyone travelling solo had to find a "caregiver" so they could get sprung from the hospital after outpatient surgery?

Surgery @ Swedish. Any ideas how to find someone to help for a few hours?

Caregivers! OMG, the biggest challenge for those of us living alone with breast cancer. During this journey I have been fortunate to have a family member come here and there but I cannot and do not rely on this as the years go by.

I have found that agencies right now, especially in the Covid crisis, are MILKING clients of hideous amounts of money and most likely keeping most of the overhead. I have searched and searched and searched and I live in a major metropolitan area. Most of their hires are not trained or screened well IMO. Since there is such a shortage of caregivers they seem to get away with hiring anyone. Other non-agency start ups are overseeing poor women who have little training but need jobs and they are putting them into homes, charging less , of course. Don't even get me started on the Covid vaccine requirements.

It is a dilemma, hope you found help.

For my surgery it's more of a formality, they won't let me transport back to my hotel about 3 minutes away by myself. And yes I do agree they are milking people because of Covid.

I work in an area that sometimes requires the services of home health and this agency is highly favored by many groups and organizations I work with. They are considered one of the best. Most of those home care/caregiver places charge a 2 - 4 hour minimum, however, to make it worth their caregiver's time. I have had nothing but good experiences with Family Resource for a number of years. Haven't had the opportunity to work with them for the last 2 or 3 years, so if Covid has changed things at all, I don't know about it.
