Seeking Mount Sinai NYC Oncologist Recommendation
Hi There,
I am on my second round with BC, post mastectomy and taking Anastrozole. I was seeing Dr. Klein first time around and when the recurrence happened I just didn't have it in me to look for someone else. I just had my 3 month follow up since taking anastrozole. My level of anxiety just anticipating the appointment was through the roof, and the distress interacting with her is not an experience any bc patient should endure.
If you can recommend an oncologist in the Mount Sinai NYC system this would be deeply appreciated. I would really like to stay in Mt Sinai because of my insurance, which covers almost all of my care. But I would also consider a very wonderful oncologist elsewhere in NYC, such as MSK or other system.
I just need the doctor to be a nice, decent human being who is compassionate towards their patients and actually listens and cares.
Thank you!

Hi MZ1969,
I see Dr. Julie Fasano at the Dubin Breast Center at Mt. Sinai, and I am very happy with her as a doctor. She listens to my concerns, answers my questions, and cares about how I am doing. Her team (nurse and NP) are also wonderful.
Hugs to you - I hope you find a doctor that works for you.

Thank you so much! I will schedule my next appoinment with her.

well everyone is different. I was assigned to dr fasano and did not find her a good fit. I switched to dr tiersten who was better but really has an overburdened practice so I decided to find an MO at a different cancer center

Thank you for sharing your experience. Do you like the person you see now? Would you mind sharing where/ and who that is? Thank you, it would be nice to have a few names so I can find the right fit.

MZ, I PMed you.

Oh, I appreciate this thread! I met with Dr. Klein 6mo ago (I'd been with Dr Malamud and he left the practice) and walked out of there certain I didn't want to continue with her—she just felt so chaotic and left me feeling uncertain about everything that had occurred in the past 2.5 years. I'm meeting with Dr. Berger tomorrow, so we'll see. The upside of the Dr. Klein appointment was that now I'm a bit more prepared to meet with someone new (which I wasn't when I met her).
Good luck!
