Tomorrow is it. My first chemo day. TCHP. I'm ready to start but scared beyond my wildest imagining. Am I ready? How do you be ready for this? So many thoughts and questions.

Jullyn, have you checked out the August 2021 chemo thread? I'm sure you'll find lots of support there and also consider the weekly zoom meeting too! https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/69/topics...

It usually is nowhere near as bad as we imagine it. Best wishes!

Yes, Moth I am part of the August start group. Although may move over to September since I was delayed that week and it was September when I started. Just read your blog post and I understand the small vein thing. It took 6 sticks when then were trying an IV for my CT. Finally called in the specialists. She said ask for them every time and don't let anyone else do it.

Hi Jullyn, good for you for starting despite fear. Besides the sticking problem, how are you feelng?

I feel much the same, afraid. Not ready to start chemo yet, have to get a heart scan and then see what is recommended.

Oldladyblue., so many tests we have to have. I was always a healthy person and this is all so new. Test for this, test for that.

I'm feeling yucky, but it could be worse. No taste but what's worse is the way food feels in your mouth. Hard to explain.

hopefully it won’t be as bad as you fear. I did TCHP last summer, finished in November. The monthly cancer boards helped me tremendously. Technically I started in August, but I was most active in the July board since there were several people on the same treatment as me.

My biggest advice is rinse your mouth with a baking sodas rinse after eating or drinking. I had horrible mouth sores the first round, but didn’t have any once I started rinsing. It was a celebration the day I could finally put the baking soda away.

Round two TCHP so far has sucked every bit of my energy. I have to force myself to get out if bad. I hate it!
