Collegen

Hello!

Not sure if this is where I should post this question… I want to start taking collegen either powder or in pill form because my hair is getting so so thin! I also want the other benefits of collegen as well. I have been on anastrozole since 2016 and tamoxifen before that for 7 years. My onco said I can’t take collegen because I'm ER + but if I find one without any active hormones I can take that one. The problem is I can’t find any so that’s why I’m here posting. If any of you know of any collegen that does not contain active hormones can you please let me know? Thank you in advance!

I would be careful about that. Believe me, I know how big a deal hair is. But getting the amino acids you need from certain supplements can be an overload.

I don’t care for the sloppy article here, but there’s some interesting links to check out. https://marnieclark.com/are-collagen-supplements-safe-for-breast-cancer-survivors/

You might find a practitioner to check out your copper and zinc levels. Eggs are a great source of choline, which can help hair. Eating two Brazil nuts a day gives you the recommended dose of selenium. Rosemary, and other oils, can block the effects of dht on the scalp. And if you really can’t stand it, see a dermatologist! Mine offers PRP infusions to restore hair growth. Your hair won’t look 23 again, but there’s marked improvement

    Hi there,

I came across this thread because I also want to start a collagen powder supplement. I asked my MO about it today (he is at a NCI-designated cancer center) and he said it's fine to take it.

So. Passing that along in case it's helpful!

Whhhhuuuutt? Are you saying collagen peptides contain active hormones? Where are you finding this information? I'm pretty alarmed because I have a smoothie everyday that includes two scoops of collagen peptides. Link? Thanks!

Im glad you asked this question, I too wanted to start taking it for hair skin and nails. I never would've thought to even ask my doc. Please keep us posted?

I didn’t say collagen causes any hormonal issues. It is best to be careful and take a moderate approach to amino acids, vitamins, and even antioxidants, because they are able to promote disease as well as prevent it. When in doubt, ask your MO and try to get what you need from real foods

That is why I am asking. I have never found a collagen supplement that says anything about containing hormones, so I am really confused about this. I would like to clear this up because taking care of my overall health is mission critical for me.

Has anyone taken Biosol for hair skin and nails? It’s gets some pretty good reviews. Little pricey but if it’s safe and works I could care less. It claims to help with bone health too.

i am triple positif. To help with hair nails and bones I am taking vitamin B complex. I cannot say if it is helping or not. I never asked my mo if this is ok or not. There is anything about this vitamin I should be aware of?

For bons, as suggested by my doc, I am taking calcium, magnesium and vitamin D
