Hi, I had my last period more than 6 years ago and altho I've been on HRT patches since meno, I've never had breast pain during the whole time.

4 weeks ago I began to sleep badly, due to pain in right breast. I was either awake due to the pain, or sleeping badly due to dreaming about the pain. It's not agony. It's just 24 hours a day persistent and, of course, concerning.

I'm overweight and my boobs are big (husband calls my bras "zeplin hangers" 🙄) so self testing is quite challenging. I have felt endlessly for lumps but found nothing.

I had annual BIRADS 2 mamo and ultrasound last June and am scheduled for next routine check next week (missed anniversary by a few weeks due to my Dr having covid).

My question is actually around nipple (or rather areole) indenting. Mine (on same breast as pain) has been looking a bit flat and sad now for several months. Might even be since before last mamo... It's only when I raise my arms and as soon as I'm cold it is hard same as other side. I wouldn't bother at all except that now I have this non stop pain on same boob...

I've looked and looked and it doesn't change. Arms up, nipple deflates. Arms anywhere else, nipple looks normal.

The trouble is that everything I've read says that indentation is a flag. But they don't really explain if that's indentation all the time, just with arms raised, does it matter that it goes erect same as other side as soon as the AC kicks in? Etc

I'm seeing Dr for annual exam in a few days. But it's nearly 3am and I'm worried so here I am. Thank you xx

    scottish99,

Sorry for your worry. I am glad that you’ll be seeing your doctor in a few days so you can try to find an explanation for your pain. None of us are oncologists and since you have little to go on besides a few symptoms, I don’t think anyone here would hazard a guess.

If everything you’ve read is via Dr. Google, please stop! Dr. Google is a terrible diagnostician. He has no medical qualifications and he has never examined you so take anything he has to say with far more than a grain of salt. Take care.
