CT scans ordered - Back at square one feeling
This month has been a whirlwind with the diagnosis and getting a plan in action. It has been great to get to that plan to help alleviate some of the unknown, waiting, and wondering. Today my oncologist has ordered CT scans for chest, abdomen, pelvis, and bones. I am glad to get the scans to alleviate more stress during the next few weeks of waiting on pathology results after the upcoming surgery. However, I am terrified the results can be worse than the original dx. I am hopeful that it all comes back good. Anyone out there with CTscans experience?
More unknowns.
More waiting.
More wondering.

Are you. worried about the CT finding metastases? If so, please know that it is rare to be diagnosed metastatic at initial diagnosis. I believe the figure is about 6%, so the odds are overwhelmingly in your favor. On the very small chance that you might be one of those 6%, wouldn’t you want to know about it so you could be treated appropriately?
Since you are early in your bc experience the best advice I can give you is to focus on what you know and don’t waste time and energy on thinking about “what if”. That only creates more stress and anxiety and doesn’t change a single thing. Take care.

Thank you Exbrnxgrl, that's really wise advice.
Wondering,
That initial time of testing and waiting and worrying is the worst. We're all terrified at that point because we're only human. Our brains go through worst case scenarios and it's hard to take it all in. I was convinced it was everywhere which was a coping mechanism just in case. My CT scans came back ok but the wait is hard. You'll get through this and the doctors will formulate a plan with you no matter what.
I kept busy and sought out a good and kind integrative doctor to help me get my diet in order so I could start the healing my body needs. (I'm very low carb now, no sugar, healthy fats and proteins). Rediscovering butter of all things..:) Who knew?
Blessings and a virtual (hug),
Esther

exbrnxgrl - you are correct that adding stress and anxiety does not change a thing. Thank you for that great advice. I will do my best to keep that in mind daily.
Esther01 - my treatment plan has changed agin. What I want and what I need are two different things. I find cancer to be a bit controlling and I don't like her for it :-)
Great diet. My cancer nutritionist changed my diet also. Interesting how what we eat can help our path.
