Breast cancers due to poison water contamination, and PTSD
Hello
I’ve had both breasts removed. One had 4 loci old ILC, the other 2 loci of IDC and both had DCIS. Recovery has been difficult. My spouse stayed with me, paid the bills, did the chores…but treated me like garbage. I have been diagnosed with PTSD as a result of cancer, and I know that his denying me sex since diagnosed, accusing me of being unfaithful- when I couldn’t even drive - and generally terrorizing me by screaming in my face as I go up the stairs for bed, waking me to yell at me, making me cry and yelling that I’m being manipulative… I’m too weak to leave. He’s in therapy and I se some improvement. But SO MUCH DAMAGE HAS BEEN DONE. I had a very successful career and was at the top of my game when cancer hit. Now I can barely function. Please tell me how you have been able to get through something like this. Thank you

I'm sorry this has happened to you. Exposure to chemicals in water I had read about liver and blood cancers, but never BC. I'll have to do more reading on the subject. Have you listen to: Topic: Podcast: Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder After a Cancer Diagnosis ? Are you seeing a social worker or psychologist to help you with your PTSD? I think someone else posted try to take one small step every day and accept support from those who love you. Try just walking every day. You deserve to be happy.

thank you, flashlight and moderators. The military base where I was exposed was camp Lejeune in NC. 18 different diseases are covered. I do have a therapist and am typically able to function but have had a flurry of stressors in the last few weeks. So may be complaining more than usual. Therapist told me to take a few days off to recover and I could be better at that. If anyone knows of a Telehealth clinician who works with couples and ptsd, we could use that! Mostly I meditate each day, walk a mile 4-5x/week, do some yoga. But was Uber active (5 mile hikes were a weekly standard) before cancer and complications. So maybe it’s a small setback that feels big. Looking forward to listening to the podcat

this was very helpful! Now I need to find a therapist that can help. I’m open to Telehealth and it’s not going away on its own. Open to suggestions and to hearing others’ stories
