When should I be concerned?

Options

Just had another round of diagnostic mammo and ultrasound due to lump. This was the 6 month follow up and there is no change to lump. I was advised this is scar tissue from the lumpectomy. However they noticed new calcifications around the Biozorb device at a Birads 3. Having a lot of other stresses right now and just wondering if I need to be concerned. Plan is January for next diagnostic mammo but just going down the rabbit home in my head.

Hi rebakoosh! Your stress level and worry comes across loud and clear.... Was the explanation of the BIRADS 3 (vs. greater concern) clear to you? I get the impression you do not have a good sense of why they do not have more concern. I wonder if a really concrete explanation might help? Or you could push for something like an ultrasound...? Would you be able to reach out to your provider to ask about either of these.....? Sending healing thoughts....

I had an ultrasound for the lump. I just guess I am having flashbacks to my original diagnosis which started with calcifications on a diagnostic mammo. They opted for a biopsy that time. Just wondering why not this time. I really cant handle a biopsy right now and dont want an unneeded one. Just having a slew of minor other health problems that make me feel like my body is just done. I've been reading thru here to reconnect and research. Also my doc called out sick that day. Where I go, I stayed for results and normally talk to doc about them after. I have an appointment in a few weeks and will have a conversation then. Thanks for the support.

Take good care of you during this interim! Unfortunate you doc called out sick the day of your ultrasound. Please check back in once you meet with them in a few weeks.... Stay busy, distracted doing things you enjoy or find relaxing even if you're worried too. ..... Sending support and gentle hugs....

Hi. I just read your post where you said that your initial cancer started out as calcifications on the mammo. That's what I have now. Biopsy is on Monday.

May I ask you what it ended up being? And how concerned were they about calcifications? Did they give you BiRAD or any indication that it was cancer pre biopsy back then?

    Thank you!

The initial mammo pre dcis was a birad 4a. This one is only a birad 3. I didnt even think to look back then because the tech recommended biopsy at the diagnostic mammo and I had little knowledge about bc at the time. In my case it was caught very early. Also I have dense breast tissue did a 3d mammo and I'm a 40G cup size.
