Falling apart - got half the results

Feeling overwhelmed. Sorry for the choppy sentences. I am truly having trouble sorting thoughts. I got partial results. Benign. I can't find much info on it. That's for11:00 spot on left breast. For the 5:00 spot, I did not get results. I fear they discarded it as that's their usual practice for "clear" fluid even though that was against my wishes. I asked that it be tested. Feeling so much all at once and need someone to help me break it down.

Anyone know anything about STROMAL FIBROSIS AND FOCAL PERIDUCTAL CHRONIC INFLAMMATION in a 35 year old never smoker?

Anyone know anything about biopsy fluids being trashed without consent?

I don't want to seem ungrateful for great results. I know that would be disrespectful to the battle (for lack of a better word) you have all had. My head just feels flooded and now I feel alone to figure out what to do about it.

Asking for some help sorting this out, so lost. Thank you

First of all congratulations on the benign results! As to your question regarding biopsy fluids, I have no recollection of being asked whether they should be kept or dumped, so not sure how to answer your question regarding doing so without your consent.

Please ask you doctor for an explanation on the stromal fibrosis and anything else you don't understand. That is his/her job!

I know that this is worrying you and perhaps this is the most serious medical condition you've had to deal with but take a step back and try to gain a bit of perspective. You have a benign reading after biopsy and hopefully the other result will be benign as well. I don't want to sound harsh or non-supportive but benign results are a reason to let go of anxiety, not fall apart. Take care

PS: Just did a quick search for stromal fibrosis and focal periductal chronic inflammation.Neither appear to be malignant, but my search was a bit cursory.

thanks for the response. The last thing I want is to come cry on here for such great results. But I suffer from mental illness so I know my anxiety won’t stop without having results.

The hospital I went to discards clear results and doesn’t send on to testing. When I found this out, I requested a test regardless. I fear that’s wasn’t communicated all the way and I could lose that result forever. The missing result was my most concerning area to the radiologist (lobulated complex cystic nodule with internal septations, increased in size/volume)

I don’t think you seem harsh. I’m really trying to be respectful because of the severity of others’ results vs. mine. Just realizing these results may be something I never get. And that scares me!

I called the hospital to check if 2 were sent out and got the weekend excuse. As if they have a whole separate staff that only works weekends and is not fully trained to click 4 times in a chart to see if results were sent out. Getting angry!

I am so sorry. Co-morbidities, be they mental or physical, make dealing with breast issues rougher. One thing that most of us have discovered is that a lot of things related to breast issues, i.e. test, results, imaging etc., take far more time than we would like. This is a good time to cultivate patience if you haven’t quite gotten there yet. I am very patient by nature but the early days of dealing with this really, really tested that.

Do what you need to do to distract yourself and know that you just have to be patient for just a little longer. Take care

First things first - I'm with exbrnxgrl - celebrate that benign result! Next, let me offer a bit of insight into the OR/Lab Specimen handling. You seem to be looking for a biopsy result on fluid but that is not how it would be sent to the lab from the OR. When a fluid specimen is sent to the lab to look for cancerous cells, it would be sent for cytology. Have you looked into your portal's lab results for 'cytology'? It may be one of the tests that is not automatically resulted.

Finally, I've read a few of your posts about your diagnostic experience. My sense is you are waiting for someone/something to fail. Truly, if you do not have faith in your health provider, please seek out someone else. This is a stressful experience just by the diagnosis itself. You should not have to stress about your providers.

hanks for the info!! I wanted to learn more about the process.

I have searched the portal. Under "test results" tab the only option is "hospital results" from there you'll find anything from a basic metabolic to a brain MRI to pathology results in date order, no filter options or anything. I keep looking on the results for another tab or link or clue. No luck.

As far as my confidence goes, I admit I have big concerns. I have a limited insurance and this health system is my plan. If a service isn't offered there - you can get it covered elsewhere. But if it's offered here, you go here. It does cover a second opinion appointment at a reputable health system in my state so I have plans for that already…Especially since my results mention surgical consult as the plan. I know I will need lots more information about my condition then I can make an educated decision. I realize now I'm just all over the place.
