Bone Mets?

Options

Ladies,

I’ve recently started having a numbness in my left thigh. It comes and goes. I’m really scared that this could be Mets.

I had some scans in late April, that were clear. I had a bone, Ct, and brain Mri .

Has anyone heard of this? I just had a Zometa infusion a few weeks ago. I’m currently on Letrazole.

Thank you,

Cassi

    Cassi,

I have a bone met on my upper femur that was symptomless. Of course, that was just me and folks certainly do have symptoms with bone mets. The rule of thumb is that if symptoms or pain persist for two weeks,a visit with your doctor is in order. Scans look at your situation at that point in time but have little predictive value. Even if someone here has had a similar experience, bone mets symptoms vary so it would be difficult to evaluate your symptoms based on what others have experienced. Please call your doctor if this has been going on for at least two weeks. Take care.

It could easily also be the letrozole or zometa as a side effect. Some mets are symptomless and some cause significant problems but by the time they get to significant problems stage they are usually pretty large and/or show up on scans. The leg weakness I had with the sacral met was entirely different to the occasional leg "weakness" from letrozole side effects - with the met I could not put any power through my leg and it was effectively becoming paralyzed. The other type of weakness just feels like really tired legs and it comes and goes, its not something that gets progressively worse week after week. It does certainly increase my anxiety but I then remember all my recent clear scans and relax again.

But exbrngirl is right - if you have concerns or it has been ongoing for more than two weeks, to raise with your MO for discussion. Even if its a side effect, that needs to be raised and managed appropriately.
