Multiple Primary Cancer?

Hello. In March I had a hysterectomy due to a tumor on my ovary. I ended up being diagnosed with both Ovarian and Uterine cancer at that time. Both stage 1b, grade one, so I did not need chemo.

This week I got the results back from my biopsy and found out that I now also have breast cancer. INVASIVE MODERATELY DIFFERENTIATED DUCTAL CARCINOMA
- PROVISIONAL HISTOLOGIC GRADE: GRADE 2, IN SITU COMPONENT: DCIS, SOLID AND CRIBRIFORM PATTERNS WITH FOCAL
CENTRAL NECROSIS, NUCLEAR GRADE 2, ACCOUNTING FOR APPROXIMATELY 70%TUMOR VOLUME.

I have poked around but I have not found many posts on people who have been diagnosed with more than one cancer at a time. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

    Dear MattMandyPage,

I am one of those odd patients with synchronous, primary cancers...in my case, papillary thyroid cancer along with occult breast cancer, which was found only in my neck's 3 central lymph nodes, but nowhere else (so far).

Multiple primary malignancies (MPMs) can reflect genetic syndromes, advancing age, or just bad luck. In my case, genetic testing identfied no mutations.

Has your doctor recommended genetic testing?

    All the best,

    Global Gal

Yes, I did genetic counseling and got the results back a couple of weeks ago. I did not have any genetic syndrome....everything was negative. I'm 44, so I guess it's just rare bad luck to have 3 cancers??

I'm not usually an anxoius person, but now I am very worried about where else I could have cancer and not know it.

I had endometrial/uterine cancer (total hysterectomy) and my first lightweight basal cell skin cancer in 2008. Several other basal cells since, which barely count except for one that got large and nasty and the surgery to remove it left a scar from the bridge of my nose to the corner of my mouth, and some nerve damage. Then in 2018 I had breast cancer (lumpectomy) and my pre-op testing showed I also had kidney cancer (radical nephrectomy). I'm running out of disposable body parts 😄.
