I quit chemo, then Herceptin, then hormonals.. I began to feel better within a few short months, but it took a solid 5 years to feel 90% normal.

Yeah, for me there is no "My doctor won't let me". I am a Nurse, I will do what I want when my QOL is affected.

My liver / metabolic profile couldn't handle Tamoxifen, I stopped at 6 months per provider's ok - I appear to be a non-responder. Afterward, I made radical changes with my diet because I turned pre-diabetic so quickly on the drug and there's no history in my family. I don't want to get Type 2 diabetes. 5 months after stopping Tamoxifen, I had a normal HbA1C result but this is under a new diet where I have to limit my carbs - I never had to pay attention before. I know my blood sugar spikes after little bits of carbs/sugar because I bought a CGM - again, never any problems before Tamoxifen. I feel like my tolerance for carbs is starting to get better, now 7 months out - potentially because I'm learning what supplements work best for me and I've been working hard to boost muscle mass, to absorb the glucose. The silver lining is that this focus on better nutrition and informed exercise may help me in the long run - I thought I was eating well when I really wasn't, and was not focusing on the right type of exercise.
