Weird period after surgery?

Let me preface this by saying that I'm perimenopausal and my periods have been all over the place for the past few years and I've come to expect the unexpected as far as that goes. But just curious about a new kind of weird and wondering if it could be connected to my recent lumpectomy.

During my lumpectomy, I was at the end of my last period (still had some very light bleeding that wrapped up a day or so after the surgery).

Fast forward to two days ago - day 22 of my cycle, which is early-ish, but within the realm of my perimenopausal "normal" - and I get brown spotting. OK, that happens and I expect it to turn to a normal period within a day or so and....Still just brown spotting. No "normal" bleeding - at least not yet. This is a new one for me!

Could it possibly be connected to the surgery? As I understand, brown blood is "old" blood that may have been left over in my uterus from my previous period (which, as I said, was during my surgery). Could that be what's going on? Or just a coincidence?

Hi, No I don't think it has anything to do with surgery. Your hormones are probably all over the place. If it doesn't resolve I would give your Gyn a call.

Ya, but couldn't all the drugs and shock to the system of surgery affect hormones?

I had a hip replacement at 42 and lost my period. Something about the surgery shocked my body. They even tested me was not even perimenopausal according to blood work...many gynecologists, endocrinologists, etc. tried to figure it out...they never did. It never returned, which then caused me to have to have my uterine lining monitored. I opted for a hysterectomy to prevent possible uterine cancer that ran in my family. Just wait and see what happens.
