They suck. They tried to deny my oncoplastic reduction and lift as not medically necessary. And yes, it's blatantly illegal.

That’s appalling! I actually had 3 surgeons - a BS did the skin sparing BMX and 2 DIEP specialist microsurgereons did the DIEP. Took 10 1/2 hours, can’t imagine just one surgeon doing this! Very sorry for anyone that has to deal with this awful, criminal, company!

Wow, shocking! I had UHC, but a Medicare plan via a company my husband retired from, when I had my DIEP surgery. Didn’t have any problems with payment, at least none that I am aware of.

Years earlier I had UHC as secondary insurance. I needed a special test and they gave me so many problems. I was mad because my primary insurance paid the bill so UHC had no business objecting in the first place! They put me through so much aggravation but finally agreed to allow the test.

On a similar topic, I just heard on the news today that some people who use Cologuard for colon cancer screening and then need a colonoscopy due to a positive result, are getting huge insurance bills. No mention of a particular insurance company but apparently a coding issue due to screening test becoming a diagnostic test. Just a heads up
