Options

has anyone with Er/Pr positive bc tried the estrogen vaginal ring to help with dryness? My oncologist and surgeon said it’s completely safe and doesn’t absorb into blood stream.Did it help? And how did you like it?

I want to know about this as well. Are you trying it? I am miserable, I feel like knives are stabbing me just walking. Have an appointment soon with my PCP, who my MO told me to ask! Frustrating!

Yes I am going to try it out for three months. I consulted with my oncologist, another oncologist, my breast surgeon and my PCP about it and all had positive things to say and said it won’t put me at risk despite having ER+ breast cancer. One doctor said it should really help and the estrogen is very localized to the vagina. Here’s hoping!

Before you plunge into the Estring, use some Vagifem or generic estradiol to make sure your tissues have some "give" and can handle the ring without pain.

I did the Imvexxy (same as vagifem without applicator) for a month before I tried the Estring. LIfe changing. My issue was less about vaginal dryness and more about bladder issues (peeing constantly).

I use the vagifem/imvexxy for a few months, then the Estring (which is a 3 month and forget), then a few months of imvexxy....helps cut down on the estrogen. All studies show it is mildly and only immediately systemically absorbed and then evens out to what menopausal women would have. My onco is fine with that but not the creams.

Please check out the Sex matters threads. Lots of good info there.
