hi warrior73
How was the infusion—how are you feeling now? Hope you are doing ok.
I'm to have my first kadcyla infusion next week. I plan to ice hands and feet like I did with Taxol. I had nine infusions before having to stop because of side effects. I have no neuropathy problems and want to keep it that way. Nothing systemic has slowed down the spread in my bones. Grateful mets only in bones but they are most places from my skull to my femurs. Have had four separate rounds of 15 each radiation to broken hip (Left acetabulum), lumbar spine and sacroiliac joint, thoracic spine, and broken pelvis—had good results every time.😎

thank you by your grace.
I had the infusion slow over 2.5 hours, no reaction.2nd and day had loose stools, 3 rd day tired but manageable, 4 th day was tough, very tired slept almost all day night, 5th by afternoon felt better.
I think I will be able to manage,I’m in my 70s
so relieved to hear that you are responding well to treatment .Take care and stay positive

Grateful you’re ok after your first infusion. Pray it works to slow/stop the metastatic spread.
My first infusion isn’t going forward as planned. Doc ofc called and changed course to do scans before infusion because my liver enzymes were so high in last Thursday’s bloodwork

I just finished 7/14 of kadcyla…so far so good for me! I have had elevated liver enzymes, but I also had a few beers 🍻…I laid off the alcohol and they went back down. I feel fairly good, pretty tired and a few headaches but for the most part I’m carrying on with life fairly normal as before cancer. I’ve been working and enjoying the outdoors

I was not so lucky on Kadcyla. I am older at 68, soon 69 this year. IMO I think going through these infusions at an older age takes its toll and please know your own body and when to stop. I was also still working when diagnosed and in pretty good shape. I only managed (4) Kadcyla infusions before getting early lung pneumonitis and abruptly stopped this drug. Many of these new drugs come with hefty side effects and patients need to be well informed about what to look out for. Especially if you live alone. Saw a pulmonary doctor and did not have to go on steroids, thank goodness, because I got better. All the newer, fancy drugs are capable of causing bad side effects. I want quality of what is left of my life and not the insult of having to end up in an ER or worse, ICU just to combat a small, damn HER2+ tumor.

mtspacekace, congratulations and best of luck for continued treatment.
Racheldog,I understand how you feel and nice to know your pneumonia is cleared.
Keep that positive energy going.
Hugs

Thank you Docy. I am just finishing 4 weeks of radiation. My choice to do that next. Oncologist was ok with that. Then I have to do Herceptin monotherapy. I am still spooked about rechallenge even of the Herceptin. I sure hope that goes ok. I keep hearing that Herceptin only is not bad and done every three weeks. Anyone had issues with lung problems while on Herceptin by itself? Appreciate input.
Congratulations to those who were able to stay on and/or still continue Kadcyla.

Slept 9 hours last night and the same amount today. Anyone found that the tiredness abates after a day or so? I am 52 and work part time, and am so blessed to be a first time Mama full time. Hi all,
Not seen any new posts in this forum
How is every one doing on Kadcyla.
I had to a break for 10 weeks due to surgery I’m going to have to place rods in my both thigh bones, because I had stress fractures from Boniva ( osteoporosis) medication

I started Kadcyla 3 weeks ago, had some delayed fatigue and joint muscle aches, but passed in a couple days...wondering if anyone has experienced any hair loss/thinning with this? Heard it's rare, hope so!
