Injury Causing Breast Cancer

Hello,

I had Stage 1 breast cancer in 2016. I had a left breast mastectomy and I had a reduction and lift on my right breast.

Everything was fine but I was reaching down from the couch trying to pick up something and I believe I accidentally injured my right breast. I felt like I pulled the inside of my right breast, almost like internal ripping from the edge of the couch. Because of the reduction and lift, I am concerned I did, if that is possible and it really hurts now. Do they tighten muscles in these breast lifts to keep them lifted? Can they be pulled? Also, another concern is a nurse stated when I had my original breast cancer in 2016, as well that an injury can cause breast cancer. I am going to see my doctor on Tuesday. Does anyone have any input on these questions? Now I am worried later on down the road about this.

Any comments on this?

I had pulled the muscles in my chest during exercise right before I found the tumor in my breast. I didn’t think the exercise caused it but I thought somehow working out could have accelerated the growth by sending blood or oxygen to the area.

I asked the exercise physiologist at the hospital gym where I was being treated. He said what might have happened is that the tumor could have been under the muscle and tearing the muscle made it more apparent. Or, it was coincidence. I had a 2+ cm tumor that seemed to come out of nowhere

I don’t think injuries actually cause cancer but could make the tumor become more apparent if it’s already there.
