Armpit pain?

Hi there -

Does anyone experience armpit pain? First, I have really bad health anxiety, so more often than not, I go from A-Z immediately with my thoughts, however, this has been going on for a month and it's really worrying me. I have my mammogram at the end of June and feel like I will continue to live in this daze until then.

I get random pains in my armpit throughout the day. They come & go and I don't feel them when I am asleep (I wake up during the night, wondering if the pain has gone). I don't feel any bumps/lumps, but I feel like the right armpit may look fuller than the left. The pains are hard to describe. It's like I'm hyperaware of my armpit. I spoke to my GP and she said you should be looking more for bumps/lumps, rather than anything else.

I'm having a really hard time concentrating or thinking about anything else.

Any thoughts are welcome!

Thx

Selena, pain is the pits. Let's hope it is nothing more than swollen lymph nodes. And there are lots of them there.

Thank you for responding and lol!

I can't feel any swollen lymph nodes -- I've checked probably too many times every day. One armpit just looks a little more fuller. I wish I could explain the sensation better. Ugh...I hope it's my mind playing tricks on me.

Do your bra edges come close to your armpits? Since it's just a daytime thing, try switching bras or going without and see if it makes a difference.

    Hello Selena,

I don’t want to alarm you but my only symptom that I had breast cancer was an itchy armpit. It went on for 2 years. My mammograms were always good. I did not have any palpable lumps in breast or armpit. Finally my primary care physician agreed to order an MRI which detected the breast cancer. It was very small in my breast…much larger in the lymph nodes in my armpit. Anyway, by that time, I was metastatic. Once I started treatment the cancer receded and the itchy sensation went away.

So I would suggest that you take the pain seriously. If it persists, please ask your doctor to order tests to find out the cause. Don’t just rely on a clear mammogram.

I know what you mean about going from A to Z…I do that too,all the time.

    Best Wishes to you.

    Hi everyone.

What happen after checking to the doctor because an itchy ampit and little lump around breast? Are they advice for surgery? Or any other option?

    Purpleaqua,

Can you provide details of what the doctor found when he checked? Have you had imaging or a biopsy? It’s not possible for anyone to say what might happen next without additional information. Take care.
