I had a biopsy completed a few weeks ago of a mass under breast and when the initial results posted online they said that my case was being sent to another pathology center for CONSULTATION due to ADIPOCYTIC PROLIFERATION and that final result would be posted in addendum once results come back


Why would a pathology office send specimen elsewhere? What is adipocytic proliferation? It’s almost been a month since biopsy and doctor not returning calls

    Welcome Ble! I actually have no idea what adipocytic proliferation is. In my case, and I think not uncommon, my pathology results were read by two pathologists. That may be in part why your specimen was sent out. Do you live in a small area with a small hospital? If so that may account for needing to send things off too.... Sorry it's taken so long for you to get a response! I hope someone else will respond too who might know more about this.... Please check back in once you hear more...

    Thank you for the reply. I actually use a large hospital with a great pathology team. That’s why seeing the biopsy sent out surprised me. I have a follow up with Surgeon this week to check wound healing so hopefully they have answers then.
