Just curious about fibrocystic changes
Hello all with Fibrocystic changes.
I have lumps in both breasts. My right one however has firm, thickened, lumpy tissue that is more prominent. Not at all one lump but more of lumpy tissue throughout the entire breast. And what feels like cysts all around my areola. They are firm. Which in turn has caused my nipple to be less prominent. It is not flat or inverted just less prominent.
I also have puckering under my breast on the right when I raise my arm. Like a small line of indention and saggy wrinkled skin. With the right breast being so full of lumps it also sits higher. It is not smaller it just has less fatty tissue. And the left breast has lumps and bumps but sags more because it is a lot more fatty feeling. I’m 50 and in Peri Menopause but still have periods regularly.
I already have a Drs appointment next week. But just wanted to know if anyone else has these symptoms???
Thanks ahead for your responses

Hello!
I have a long history of fibrocystic breast changes. In fact, I've lost count of how many cysts, fibroadenomas, and unexpected changes that they have found(not to mention the numerous biopsies, MRIs, mammograms, and ultrasounds) My breasts are extremely dense, and I barely have enough to fit in a regular bra. They are so small for the mammogram machine. I could literally find a new breast lump every couple of months. That sounds very similar to what I have felt throughout both my breasts..from lumpy tissue to rubbery spots to more firm lumps of tissue, puckering, etc. It is so confusing. I've even had a big lump in my armpit. Anyway, I just wanted to reach out and tell you that you're not alone. I will pray for you and feel free to message me if you need anything.

I’m a 75 year old grandmother that is a wounded veteran of fibrocystic breast disease. My problems started in my teens when my breasts would increase in pain and swelling the closer I got to my period. Then the pain would disappear when my period started. I married and had two children. By the time I was in my early 30’s, I was no stranger to fluid aspiration of cysts.
In 1990, around age 42, I was having hot flashes and my male GYN prescribed an estrogen patch, opposed with progesterone, although he noted on my chart I was not estrogen deficient. I told him that I have an especially flagrant case of fibrocystic breast disease and estrogen would make it worse. I had learned that by the seat of my pants from having taken birth control pills in the early 70’s. He said I'd be fine due to the progesterone. I complied. Nine months later, I went for a mammogram and threw up in a trashcan. Cyst that had been the size of grapes and walnuts were now the size of lemons and oranges. The radiologist came out and said, “You need to get rid of all of your breast tissue.” I thought that was wise advice when two days later, I came down with blood poisoning and red streaks running down both arms. I had a subcutaneous bilateral mastectomy, was immediately reconstructed with polyurethane implants one month before the FDA took them off the market. My quality of life and health took an immediate downward spiral and has never substantially recovered. In 2013, I was diagnosed with Stage 1 left breast cancer, estrogen positive, etc. The cancer was on my chest wall on a site that had been a pressure point from the implant, per Sloan Kettering and UNC breast cancer treatment in Chapel Hill, NC. I now have radiation damage, lost lymph nodes, scar tissue, pressure, pain, and lymphedema.
Grandmotherly advice: NEVER NEVER NEVER take ESTROGEN REPLACENT drugs if you have fibrocystic breast. Also, research that you possibly have an iodine deficiency and might try kelp supplements, with the approval of your doctor. Fibrocystic cyst are typically mobile and squishy under the skin. Be alert to changes from that, and definitely stay under the care of one good doctor that can track your problems.Bless you!
