It’s all really overwhelming, but it’s cancer, so that’s kind of a thing. I’m not sure what I even want to say, but I’m here. Hi.

I guess I’m scared again. For the millionth time in two weeks. Another appointment tomorrow with my mri results and (I hope) scheduling surgery.

Once you know all the details and get things scheduled, it's much less overwhelming. I found it VERY helpful to deliberately schedule as many fun things as possible, like picnics, hikes, day trips - substitute what you enjoy. Even if it's just silly movies and dancing like mad to your favorite music, it helps! Looking back, I remember more about the fun things than the dreary medical stuff.

Glowolf Alice has some excellent advice, I hope you can try to follow some of her suggestions. It is an extremely mind twisting thing to hear "you have cancer" and to not know immediately all the other details. I hope your MRI results come back clean and you get your surgery scheduled. It will help to feel like you are beginning. Please let us know how you are doing - we really care and so understand what this is like. My very, very best to you.

Glowolf - We're so sorry for the circumstances that have brought you here, but really glad you found us and decided to reach out to our members. We know it's scary and confusing right now, but we wanted to remind you that you are not alone here, as you can already see.

As this is all very new for you, you may want to check out the information we have compiled for the newly diagnosed here: Resources for the Newly Diagnosed. There you'll find some important info that can help you understand your diagnosis, the pathology report, learn more on different treatment options, and manage the emotions that so often goes along with a breast cancer diagnosis. Hope this helps!

Please keep us posted on how everything is going, we're thinking of you!

It’s a beautiful thing to wake up to so many kind folks with encouraging messages! Thanks. I’ll let everyone know how my appointment goes.

At this point, I’m still working, so that really helps things seem less out of sorts. But.... since I had to go off my estrodile patch, I’m dealing with surgical menopause for the second time. (Had a partial hysterectomy in 2018, kept ovaries, but they are faulty and don’t make estrogen very well). At this point, the hormone issues are pretty nutty, but it keeps life interesting, and it’s pretty ridiculous to be shivering and sweating, so at least I can laugh at how goofy it all is. I’m only 42 it’s all a bit crazy

That's wonderful! I hope all goes well. I only just saw your original post and I get it. Your arc is just a few weeks after my own. I'm 44 and those first couple of weeks were terrifying, but I've had surgery and had my drains out and it's way less scary now. Hang in there!
