Biopsy this Wednesday. Annual mammograms from really dense breasts and a lump scare about 13 years ago. Called back for a second look and ultrasound. Hoping for a good outcome, but reading to prepare. I really dislike doctors, discomfort, logistics, waiting. Thank you everyone for sharing. This is a great resource.
-
hi lindymi, sorry you find yourself here. Is it an ultrasound guided biopsy that you'll be having?
-
Want to welcome you Lindy! Glad you found us! Best Wednesday and please let us know how things go....
-
Dear Lindymi,
Welcome to the BCO community. We are glad that you reached out to share your story. Good luck with your biopsy and keep us posted.

yes, ultrasound biopsy in 2 locations.
-
Hoping for the best for you! If it comes back cancer, may it be an easier version!
-
Lindymi - wishing you all the best. Sorry you are having to do this but I am glad you are doing what is necessary for your health and well being. Whatever comes we are here to walk through it with you.
-
Biopsy went well. Not as bad as I imagined. Mass is 1.6 cm and radiologist thought the node was maybe ok (very movable and easy to biopsy?). Now we wait again...will hear something Friday, Monday or Tuesday. They are scheduling surgeries for June or July, so will have to think through that based on results.
-
Glad that's out of the way - now do some fun stuff until you get the results!
-
Hang in there Lindy..... Ditto what Alice said....
-
Well, looks like I will be sticking around. Breast biopsy positive for IDC 1.6 cm cancer but the node was benign. MRI will be scheduled and then I meet with the surgeon on the 19th. Surgeries are being scheduled for July so I may check out some other centers.
-
Sorry to hear that Lindymi. But that is hopeful news about the node and the small size of the cancer!
FYI my MRI found my cancer much larger than my biopsy/scans did, which was alarming, but my surgeon said that often it's just inflammation from the biopsy and in fact that was true for me and the final measurement of my tumor after surgery was within a few mm of the initial estimates.
Good luck with the coming weeks! There is a lot of uncertainties as you wait for all the various results, all the way up to after the final post surgical pathology and oncotype, which can be very stressful. But hopefully the actual treatment will be both very tolerable and highly effective!
I think the next results to come back should be the hormonal profile of your tumor.
-
Sorry to hear that you're officially one of us, but it sounds small and early stage. I hope they can get you in earlier so you can put this all behind you more quickly. And remember to still make time for fun!
-
So sorry to hear that Lindy! Really important you're comfortable with your team. If a second opinion increases that, or could, then that's the way to go. I got a second opinion at a certified breast care center and stayed with the center vs. general surgeon locally.... Let us know if you have any questions... You'll certainly want to start checking out and posting in the IDC forums and threads though you may done that already...
-
Lindymi so sorry to hear you are officially joining us. Second opinions are always a good idea, and i hope you find a team that you feel the most comfortable with. I will echo Salamandra's great point about imaging modalities showing different sizes - I, too experienced the same thing. MRI indicated my mass was almost twice what it wound up being on final. Apparently I had a lot of inflammation but just a small area of cancer. Please let us know how you are doing. ((Hugs))
