Breast pain after completing chemo?

Hello BC community :)

I recently completed chemo on April 16. My regime was AC and then Taxol with Herceptin and Perjeta. I faired treatment well without any serious side effects. I am now awaiting bilateral mastectomy surgery to remove what's left of the tumour. I have not been given a date yet for surgery.

About 5 days ago I started feeling breast pain unlike anything I've experienced in my cancer journey so far. The pain is in the breast with cancer and is a constant dull ache. When I push on it with fingers, the pain is coming from the area where the tumour is (or was) and it feels very tender, almost like a bruise would feel if you pushed on it.

This has been freaking me out, mostly because I'm worried the pain is due to the tumour growing and pushing on healthy tissue. I called my medical oncologist's office and they didn't seem concerned. However, they also didn't provide any explanation for could be causing the pain. I did have a breast MRI last week, but am not getting results until mid next week from my surgeon.

I am wondering if anyone experienced anything similar after completing chemo and has any words of wisdom to share. Thank you :

Hello there. I haven't completed chemo yet but I wanted to respond to your thread and give it a bump in case someone else has had the same pain.

I'm currently having Taxol infusions weekly and the day after my treatment, my cancer breast gets very red and angry looking. Also I have occasional zaps of pain in that breast but nothing constant like you are describing. I'm pretty sure that "results vary" and there are all kinds of random pains and stuff associated with cancer treatment. I hope you have a good MRI result and can move ahead with a surgery date. Sorry that I can't really help answer your questions but I didn't want your post to go without a response! My very best wishes to you.
