Can spots be a sign of breast cancer? (pics included)

Hi there,

I was wondering if anynone could tell me if I have symptoms of breast cancer? I have spots on one breast only. These spots come and go. Sometimes they are marks like a stork-bite - last week they were a straight line of little hearts almost like ring worm. Usually they look like a bee sting or insect bite. A couple have stayed permanently. Others hang around for a day or two and then mysteriously vanish. They are not itchy. They are not raised. They have no epicentre or head. They are flat. I have no pain. My breast does not hurt or ache - there's no tenderness or heat. My breast is not flushed or swollen. There is no bruising. My skin thickness and appearance is normal other than these spots. I wouldn't even know I had these spots if I had no mirror.

I don't believe it is heat or sweat related as I never get sweaty and I wash daily. Nor do I believe it is an allergy as it is not itchy or raised. I have not bought a new bra or cleaning products.

These spots began to appear began about 6 weeks ago. First there was one large purple one and I thought it was a bad spider bite. Next there was a red mark which appeared and dissapeared. Then small spots began to appear.

Nearby is a tiny, suspicious looking mole (see pics) with an indistinct border. I have had this mole for many years and it has never changed so I've never bothered having it looked at. It doesn't itch or bleed and seems harmless other than it's indistinct border and mottled colour.

I know that no one on these boards can diagnose me. I'm just asking for your opinions on how likely it is that this is cancer? If so, is it possibly IBC?

I have no other symptoms except on two occasions recently I have experienced deep, chest pain under the spotty breast for about half an hour - which I have experienced many times in my life as a response to anxiety - so probably doesn't mean anything.

I feel in good health. I have a slightly raised temperature but this is very normal for me - my temperature has always been around 38C. I feel very well and healthy. But I know that having bug-bite type marks appearing and disappearing on one breast is not normal. I had gestational diabetes (during pregnancy) I have a diagnosis of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome Type 2, and I have a history of severe haemorrhages. I'm not sure if any of this is relevant.

Please let me know your opinions. I've attached two pics taken today and one taken last week.

This is the same breast. I'm not sure why the camera image seems to have flipped it to the other side. It is only one breast which is affected. The other breast is blemish-free.

    Hello Cheyne,

Spots can be a symptom of many, many things, most of them being simple skin conditions. Please see a dermatologist or your GP. You should also remove the pics as they are not allowed. This is noted in bold at the top of the page. Take care
