Dear all,

After receiving a misleadingly benign biopsy report, someone corrected it and upgraded it to invasive lobular carcinoma. I am not sure how I feel. I have an MRI scheduled for next Monday and then genetic testing before surgery, to decide whether to go for a lumpectomy or mastectomy. Then radiation, then hormonal therapy. It is positive to estrogen and progesterone. I wish I could sleep through this all. Thank you for being there. Copying and pasting my results here:

Case ReportSurgical Biopsy Report Case: CB21-00667
Authorizing Provider: Kristine Pysarenko, MD Collected: 03/25/2021 1133
Ordering Location: NYU Langone Radiology at Received: 03/25/2021 1402
Perlmutter Cancer Center
Pathologist: Osvaldo J Hernandez, MD
Specimen: Breast, right
Correction ReasonThe case was amended to revise the diagnosis from "complex sclerosing lesion/radial scar" to "invasive lobular carcinoma, moderately differentiated, classical type". Dr. Guth was notified this correction on April 7, 2021.
Addendum Reason: Biomarker ReportSee biomarker report below
Final DiagnosisBreast, right, 11:00, 4 cm from the nipple, ultrasound-guided core biopsy:

- Invasive lobular carcinoma, moderately differentiated, classical type

- Atypical lobular hyperplasia (ALH)

I am so sorry for your diagnosis, especially after getting B9 results. What a roller coaster ride. The beginning is so overwhelming. It does actually get “easier” when you have a solid treatment plan in place. Glad they have scheduled an MRI for you. All the best to you, and don’t hesitate to ask any questions you might have.

Oh I'm so sorry that this happened to you Only good thing is that they did find it in in the end - would have been horrible if they'd missed the staining and you did not get your diagnosis. Still sucks & what an awful roller coaster to be on. So upsetting

Ugh Itrinidad what an awful left turn. I am so very thankful that your pathology was reviewed and the error corrected , my goodness! One of the more difficult things about this process is you keep getting information by bits and pieces for a while so what you think might be the path can shift on you. Prayers that doesn't happen again for you on any level.
