Hello,

My metastatic cancer (bone mets only initially) has been treated with weekly paclitaxel, Perjeta and Herceptin and Zometa every 3 weeks (HER 2 positive) since november 2020. My follow up scan was in March and besides the fact that the bone mets aren't smaller, there are several spots on my liver (smaller than 1 cm).My doctors told me the only treatment I will be getting forward will be Kadcyla and that I might look into radiation. I must confess I'm so disappointed, I have been reading the topics and to my mind there are still options for me and I've never heard of someone with mets treated only with Kadcyla. Is there anyone who has this treatment?

Thank you so much for this community, you have calmed my nerves so many times

HI Mary0512, and welcome to Breastcancer.org,

We're so very sorry for the reasons that bring you here. But, we're so glad you decided to join and post.

It's certainly disappointing to change the course of treatment, and prepare for new side effects, etc. Have you asked your doctor why they are recommending this path for you? Have you shared your thoughts and wishes about other options? It might be helpful for your doctor to explain why they feel the other medicines you think might work may not be the best next option.

In the meantime, there's some helpful information on the main Breastcancer.org site's page on Kadcyla that may be informative. It looks as though Kadcyla usually is given as a sole treatment.

We hope this helps and we hope you get some insight and answers from your doctor -- and others here, too -- soon!

Let us know if there's anything else we can do to help, and welcome again!
