As you can see from my user name, I don’t pay much attention to my breasts. I never even really look at them, but my sis had a recent worry during an annual mammogram so I figure I’d better start being more alert.

I’m 48 years old and have breastfed my 5 babies continuously over the course of 13 years. I stopped breastfeeding for good about 3 years ago. I am very small breasted. I’ve never had a mammogram but have scheduled a 3D one 2 weeks from now. No family history of BC.

my right breast is always slightly tender. No matter where in my cycle I am. I guess I’ve really only noticed this in the past year. When doing a breast check it’s my right breast that has a lot of discomfort when pressing. The nipple and areola area hurt if I bump my chest against something. I also have a yellow discharge if I slightly squeeze. Is this because I’ve breastfed in the past?

I do not think we can post photos in here but I do have a small indent in the same breast that is visible if I stretch the skin there. It’s slightly purple (like a vein color maybe) and smooth and skin seems thin and opaque.

When I press around I feel all sorts of lumps and bumps and they are tender! So I really don’t know what’s normal breast tissue and what is a true lump.

Anyway, thanks for reading!

Apatheticboob, My sister has 4 children and she breast fed the last for 2-years. I have 2-children and I made it for about 8-months each. The biting did me in! Your breast have been through a lot. Why are you squeezing and pulling your skin? In 2-weeks you will have your answer. Stay off Dr. Google. There could be many reasons why your breast feel tender. Don't go there.

oh I should clarify, I’m not squeezing or stretching aggressively! I was just doing the self breast check I guess.

I just want to welcome you! I can't really answer your questions. I have heard others describe some similar symptoms and it seemed breastfeeding related. Also some of what you describe could be more fibrocystic kinds of things. I hope that's the case... Do what you can to relax and focus on other things as much as possible until you mammogram. Please let us know how that goes....
