Is this a UTI or what?

Hey all,

I've never had one before but am wondering if this is one and now what? Yesterday morning woke up feeling a bit of "heavy" lower abdomen. A bit of sting urinating but thats not unusual, it was more external than internal (like its dry), no blood/cloudiness etc. All day felt like I needed to go more frequently, perhaps every two hours, however when I was out and about or working on something it didn't seem urgent or painful. No (out of the ordinary) back or flank pain,no fever. Slept through the night, only getting up once to urinate (this is normal for me). Actually, laying down eliminated the urgency so I wonder.

This morning its a bit better but the lower abdomen still feels a bit heavy.

I did have my second AZ shot on Wednesday, and Tuesday I did some ab work, including lower abs. I have been drinking a bit more (watered down) lemonade lately, and I made a tomato noodle soup earlier this week for lunch and dinner. I had a pelvic exam in the last four weeks where everything was noted to be ship shape.

Its the weekend so I would have to call the out of hours GP service and wait for a call back. I don't want to go on antibiotics if I don't have to - can this maybe wait until 8 am Monday morning for me to call me normal GP office?

(Ah - one of the pharmacies has the self-tests without having to talk to the pharmacist and download an app, let's hope the one closest to home has it (*adds UTI strips to the US-trip shopping list*),or the one in the grocery store since I have to do basic veg shopping this morning anyway.)

Hi, Sondra. I’ve had many UTIs in my life. For me, there is no doubt when I have one. It starts with the stinging you describe and then the horrendous feeling of a knife being injected into my insides. The only thing is not everyone has that type of reaction. I have used those test strips before, so I would start there. I have to say I’d rather give birth than have one. I hope you feel better soon.
