Just diagnosed & already tired of being poked!
Hi, I've been lurking here a couple weeks and it has been very helpful. I was diagnosed on 3/26 with IDC, Stage 1A, grade 2 after left biopsy. MRI showed more spots and ended up having to have one MRI biopsy on left yesterday, which is towards the back, so deeper and more sore. I have a non-mass enhancement on right side, upper front area, which also has to be biopsied. Was hoping I could rest a couple days, but they opened up the schedule to get me in early Monday morning. It's a blessing that all my testing has moved quickly, as I see others do not have as good of luck, but I am getting tired of poking already. I am 38, never been in hospital except with others and this has been a lot.
In ways it's good it's moving fast bcz I just want to get on with it and get to treatment, but sheesh, I am a slow-moving person by nature. I am fairly strong whatever that means, but I've def been breaking more and I hate it. I hate being a weepy person, it's not me.
I am guessing I need to get used to the poking? The wealth of info here has been great, I am glad I found it.

Hi and welcome aboard. Yeah, you'll have to accept the poking. It's going to happen at every follow-up appointment for at least five years, too. Try to focus on the long stretches in between the poke-a-thons.

Hi BtwnStars, and welcome to Breastcancer.org.
We're so very sorry for the reasons that bring you here, but we're really glad you've found us. As you can already see, our Community is a wonderful source of advice, information, encouragement, and support -- we're all here for you!
Don't be so hard on yourself, allowing your emotions to spill out. We know a diagnosis can be overwhelming and there's lots going on at the beginning as you get a treatment plan in place. It hard to stay strong, and it's okay to have a moment of letting it out. That's what we do here -- be an understanding shoulder for you to lean on. Don't hesitate to come back often, share your feelings, and ask for help.
We look forward to seeing you around the Community. Please let us know if there's anything at all we can do to help.

Yes it’s pretty taxing all the poking and proding! I was so tired of people feeling my boobs during the first couple months

Hi, yeah, needles and whatnot are going to become common for a while.
For me, I think it was important to switch my paradigm. I didn't focus on being unhappy, I focused on how lucky I was. It could have been much worse! I think of the many, many ways things could be worse and I'm grateful that they aren't too bad.
We are all allowed to be sad, angry, scared, psycho researchers, weepy, or whatever. The grieving process is real and necessary.
But at some point I feel we need to pick ourselves up and say that we're just glad to be alive and in treatment and gosh, aren't we lucky! Bring on the needles! I'm one step closer to getting this cancer outta me!

Thank you all for your responses and support. I'm doing much better today, my biopsy area feels way better, so I think I will be fine for Monday. I even did a modified yoga class, so that always helps. Just learning to ride the waves a bit, and in the meantime trying to research & prepare, but then just live. It's a balancing act!

Welcome BtwnStars! The others have given good suggestions on approach and feelings! You likely have explored the IDC forums already though If not they will be very helpful, esp. once you hear more about treatment. There are surgery forums as well and one for each month so you can check those out too if you haven't already. Let us know how things go....
