Freaking out a bit

I am recently diagnosed with IDC on the right side with a large mass with lymph node positive and also DCIS on left side. I just met with my surgeon this week and have a flurry of apts next week with chemo, radiation, genectics, CT/bone scan and getting a port placed. I am really trying to hold it together and think positive thoughts but I am terrified of the results for the scans. I have 3 great boys 12,15 and 17 and a wonderful husband. I need to be here to see them grow up. At this point I just want to start treatment to get some of the unknowns out of the way. Being here has helped some by reading other peoples stories and seeing treatments and that they are still here. I will get thru this, and I understand that it is a marathon not a sprint.

Sorry you have had to join us but I'm glad you found us. I haven't known anyone who didn't freak out a bit from a cancer diagnosis. I'm a typically calm person but even I had/have my moments. It sounds like you have done a good job contextualizing things. A cancer diagnosis is a hard thing to face but breast cancer can be very treatable and as you have discovered, BCO can be a great resource.

Welcome to the best forum around. It all seems so much at first, but with each appointment and test, you'll see your treatment plan come together, and that helps a LOT.

Yes the waiting, poking, testing is hard. Once you have a treatment plan, it does get better.

Who do you do flyball with? Concentrate on that to help occupy your mind.
