Concerned
Hello everyone,
I have high health anxiety! And I have posted here before as well. This time I have had a mammogram though.
I posted last about having multiple lumps in both breast but the right one is mostly all lumps and bumps, and hard rubbery like tissue.
I also have quite a bit of dimpling in my right breast at the bottom. I have always been told I have fibrocystic breasts, but when I went for my mammogram they said they don't call it that any longer. They call is dense breast tissue. Which I did not think were exactly the same thing. But that is what they said.
My 3D mammogram came back with something like this:
Extremely dense breasts, scattered course round calcifications in both, with a Birads of 2. With no evidence of any malignancy in either breast.
My concern is still my right breast. But it is so lumpy and bumpy and the dimples of course give me fear.
Should I feel confident in the mammogram? I just want to stop with all of this anxiety and fear. It is beginning to affect my entire life. I feel like most days I am walking around in a fog of fear and anxiety. And dr Google is NOT my friend. Which I already know. I feel I should be relieved. But, I guess I just need to hear it from someone else besides a piece of paper.

Birads 2? My dear, that plus the sentence “ With no evidence of any malignancy in either breast.“ should have you breathing a big sigh of relief. I would ask my doctor if I needed to have check ups more frequently due to dense breasts but I wouldn’t look for trouble where there currently is none.
As far as health anxiety, please find a therapist who can help you with that. We will all have a lifetime of ups and downs health wise and it will save you a tremendous amount of stress, which is not good for your health, if you don’t turn things into potential catastrophes. Take good care of yourself.

Thank you so much exbrngrl!! I was thinking that too but I second guessed myself. Health issues are so scary. And honestly I’m 50 and probably in peri menopause which likely adds to me being so emotional on all of this.
I do appreciate you being so understanding. I realize so many on here are going through so much worse. And for your kindness I’m grateful.
I will find me a therapist. I am in agreement that I need one.
Be blessed! And know you blessed me.

It's not just a piece of paper. It's a report from a radiologist who has years of education and experience. "Dr." Google has neither. Personally, it kind of drives me bonkers when people won't accept what their educated, experienced specialists say but will unquestioningly believe any garbage on the internet.

I think what scares me is a 3D mammogram missing it. I do trust the radiologist. I just know with the symptoms I have you can’t find anything hardly that is b9 online as an explanation. And that is why I’m scared. 🤷🏻♀️

loverof,
If one could diagnose oneself by looking up symptoms/situations on line then doctors would become obsolete, no? Are you looking for guarantees that nothing will ever be missed regardless of imaging? There are no guarantees with anything in life. However, I think that your well educated, experienced, trained medical professionals can do a very good job of diagnosis. Perfect? Of course not but it is something to think about. Dr. Google or your medical professionals? And although I will put it more gently than alicebastable (whom I agree with completely), why do you prize the Wild West of information i.e. the internet more than highly trained and experienced medical professionals?Again, they are not perfect but they know you and are more qualified than Dr. Google.

"I just know with the symptoms I have you can't find anything hardly that is b9 online as an explanation."
I read the symptoms you mentioned. I don't know what you are googling but your symptoms sound to me like normal fibrocystic breasts, which tend to become worse when hormones fluctuate, as they sure do during peri-menopause.

Hi Bessie,
I was looking up tethering/dimpling/puckering as this is what I have in that breast when I raise my arm. And that breast is firmer and doesn't hang quite as low as the other breast as the other breast is not quite as lumpy and bumpy.
Since my mammogram was bi rad 2 then i will chalk it up to fibrocystic and cysts in breasts I'm okay with that. And I do breathe a sigh of relief.
Thank you for getting back to me.
