edited April 2021 in Benign Breast Conditions

I have an appointment with a breast surgeon on April 15. I received a BI-RADS 5 diagnosis two weeks ago and my pathology report came out "benign", though they did find at least a couple high risk lesions. This morning, I talked to an oncologist who advised to have the mass removed and biopsied again and start taking hormonal therapy for 5 years to reduce the risk of developing breast or any other type of cancer. I am apprehensive about taking estrogen suppressants because I have read the side effects that some in this site have experienced, pretty awful. I am 47 and perimenopausal. In my last blood work, it showed I am still producing estrogen and no progesterone. Last period was in January this year. I would appreciate any tips or thoughts. Below are my pathology results. I will keep posting any updates. I am very grateful for the support I found on this site.

Breast, right, 11:00, 4 vm from the nipple, ultrasound-guided core biopsy:

- Complex sclerosing lesion / Radial scar

- Atypical lobular hyperplasia (ALH)

- Fibrocystic changes with stromal fibrosis

Comment: Immunostains for p63, calponin and E-cadherin confirmed above diagnosis.

Clinical History

Rignt breast, 11:00, 4 cm from the nipple, 1 cm irregular mass with high suspicion. BI-RADS 5

Received in formalin are three cores of yellow-white soft tissue ranging from 1.7 cm to 1.9cm in greatest dimension.

    ltrinidad,

Rather than start a new thread, if you think you other thread should be in this forum, why don't you ask the Moderators to move it? It's confusing for those who respond when there are two identical threads in different forums. And you'll get better input if all the responses are in one place, so that everyone can see the previous posts and add to what's been said.
