28 years old, waiting for Biopsy results and MRI
Hi all,
I’m new here. I’ve had a Breast lump and nipple discharge for over 4 years. When it was first found they did an ultrasound and the radiologist brushed it off as nothing concerning and sent me on my way. Now 4 years later, I went back to the doctor as the discharge was bothering me. Another ultrasound was ordered. They figured it was probably Just an intraductal papilloma but They then referred me to the breast clinic for biopsy, mammogram and another ultrasound. The doctor at the breast clinic was not as reassuring, and wants me to have an MRI now as well. She also changed my virtual follow up appointment to an in person appointment which freaks me out and makes me think it’s worse than they thought. Should have results in 2 weeks. Anyone else have a similar experience?

thank you! I have very dense breast tissue so the mammo didn’t show much i don’t think. I read the report just now about what they saw on the ultrasound and it sounds bad. It said portions of the mass appear to extend into surrounding breast tissue and that the margins blend with the surrounding breast tissue
I’m terrified. It scares me so much that i have had this lump for over 4 years and they didn’t do more tests in the beginning as they weren’t concerned at all. Now i here those words and have already self diagnosed myself based on that report

There are pros and cons to seeing reports ahead of appointments. I still like to view mine. Understandable from what you read that you are angry and scared! See how you can channel those emotions - into questions you have, concerns or other things you want to express, etc. I realize that is also limited.... These are just such powerless and helpless places to be.....! I hope you have support at home during this wait and after depending on actual results...? 2 weeks likely feels like a lifetime at this point.... Do what you can to really focus on what you're doing during the day and plan enjoyable and relaxing things even if you're still going to worry at a higher level. The worry and anger are truly normal.... see how you can also mitigate those some to make it more tolerable.....

I got my results today and they came back benign for the biopsy!! They said I have a segment of intraductal papillomas. They will still remove them all because I have nipple discharge and assess again but otherwise should be fine andso so relieved. Thank you to this community for getting me through the waiting period
