Radiation question

I was diagnosed with early stage, low grade, breast cancer in January. I had my lumptectomy two weeks ago and am about to meet with my radiation oncologist. Initially I was told there may be 3 options available to me. One is the internal method, which she wasn't sure would be an option until talking to the surgeon after the surgery, 3 weeks, or 6 weeks. Apart from getting it done as quickly as possible does anyone have any thoughts on which, 3 or 6 weeks, is better and why? I've had several people tell me to just get it done in the 3 week time period and others swearing 6 weeks will be better. I appreciate any and all input.

Thank you, Wendi

it's only been a year and off the top of my head I can't remember if I went for 20 sessions or 25 sessions. Ha! I would say take the 3 weeks if you can, the daily M-F trips to get radiation is a grind. If you can do it in 1/2 the time that is great!

HI kona! I was unable to undergo radiation.... though if it were me I'd ask about effectiveness of the different options, as well as pros/cons then weigh out what you're most comfortable with given info.....

Mine was 33 sessions. It was originally planned to be shorter, but I had a positive sentinel node, and the radiologist explained that I needed the more thorough regimen. So I'd suggest you see what the radiologist has to say, because they might have good medical reasons for recommending one course over another.
