Unusual stabbing pain
39, waiting for biopsy appointments and going crazy with worry and anxiety.
Two nights ago I woke in the middle of the night suddenly with my heart racing. As I was trying to calm down, i had what felt like a muscle spasm over my effected breast, followed by a sharp, stabbing pain in my breast (definitely not in my chest). It would stop, and then the spasms, followed by the sharp pain. This happened about 5-6 times and then stopped. I eventually wax able to fall back asleep. I couldn't find anything online that explains what I could have experienced and wondering if anyone has felt this or gas any ideas.

Hi Sara,
You mentioned biopsy appointments. Have you had a mammogram or other imaging that pointed to a need for a biopsy or biopsies? Are you thinking the stabbing pains have something to do with breast cancer? As to ideas about what those pains could be, none of us are doctors who have examined you and guessing would be pointless. Even if someone had a similar experience that may or may not be pertinent to you. There are probably many things that may have caused these brief but painful feelings. Please fill us in a bit more on what you already know, like imaging, but don’t make any unsubstantiated leaps about what caused that pain. Take care

Thank you for your reply.
About a month ago now, I noticed my breast looked different and a large area felt like a hard lump. A few days later I saw a doctor at a walk in clinic and she examined me. She also noticed a swollen lymph node in my armpit that I hadn't detected. I was sent for a mammogram and ultrasound the following week. During the ultrasound, the technician took so many images and it felt like I was in there for so long. Then the doctor came into the room to tell me I needed a biopsy.
I received the details of the appointment and found out there are two scheduled. One ultrasound guided and one mammogram guided. I guess I have calcification as well as the lump. I don't have details of the scans to share, unfortunately.
The first appointment was originally for April 14, but after begging to be put on a cancellation list, I've received an appointment for March 25. Needless to say I'm going crazy with anxiety.

The stabbing pains were new for me and seem too coincidental to be in the same breast as the lump.

SaraJay - you're getting good comments on the other thread you started. Usually it's a good idea to stick to the one thread so people can follow along. And that would be where you report after your biopsies. Yes, the waiting is hard, but hang in there.

SaraJay,
I just stumbled upon your other thread so can see you’ve given more detail there. I agree with minustwo that it’s easier to follow along if you stick to one thread.

exbrnxgrl, SaraJay has another thread going with all her information. https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/62/topics/879314
SaraJay, it's always best to stick with one thread because you'll get better answers if those who respond can find out everything about your situation in one place. Otherwise they may offer advice or say something that isn't relevant because they don't know everything that's going on.
Edited to add: It looks like MinusTwo, exbrnxgrl and I were all posting at the same time!
