Covid Vax Aggravating Letrozole Side Effects?

Hi All,

Wondering if anyone else has seemed to experience increased/aggravated letrozole side effects after getting the vaccine. I got my first shot yesterday, and this morning my joint and muscle aches are worse, as are the usually mild headache and nausea that I can get from the letrozole. As always, I'm having trouble distinguishing what is what. Everyone I know whose gotten the vaccination had no problems with the first shot, and only some with the second. I hadn't expected anything more than maybe a sore upper arm with this first one, but now I'm wondering if the vaccine either aggravates the usual letrozole side effects or if I'm having covid vaccine side effects (which are very similar) on top of the usual letrozole ones. Any comments or similar experiences out there? Thanks for reading.

    threetree,

I also take an AI (exemestane) but have been on all of them over the past ten years. I had no increase in AI side effects after my first shot. I have also not seen anyone post about having that experience but that doesn't mean that some haven't. I think that at this point in time it would be a bit of a leap to make that association but you never know 🤷🏻.

Been on ibrance letrozole about 1 1/2years. Got Phizer shot, other than a sore spot at jab, no problem.

I suppose if you unknowingly had covid in the past, you might react to the first shot as your immune system recognizes an old enemy.

Thanks to everyone above. I really appreciate your thoughts. Most of that was going on this morning, but as they day has worn on, I do seem to just have a bit of a sore arm, which of course is no big deal. I did read online that you can get those side effects with the first shot as well as the second, so who knows? Maybe it was just a bad day in general, maybe it was a vaccine one-off, maybe it was a letrozole one-off. It is hard to know. At least nothing's worse, things are improving, so I don't think I'll worry too much about it any more. Very grateful for all of your thoughts!
