Concerned about liver mets

Options

Hi All,

I am currently taking Xeloda for residual cancer after a lumpectomy for TNBC.

I have been experiencing right upper quadrant pain for a few months intermittently. We ruled out gallbladder issues with ultrasound.

Over the past two weeks or so, the pain has become consistent and more severe. My pain on an average day now is a 2-3. Yesterday and today it has been worse. I also have pain in my mid/upper back now.

Did anyone diagnosed with liver mets experience pain like this? I see my oncologist tomorrow for my regular blood work and check up for Xeloda. It will be interesting to see if my liver enzymes are elevated.

Just looking to read others' experiences.

Thanks.

I did experience pain in the liver on palpation. I actually felt it myself because I have an above counter sink in my bathroom & I'm near sighted so I used to lean hard into the edge of the sink bowl to peer in the mirror and my liver was definitely sore when pressed.

Liver enzymes can be normal for some time. If there's pain or guarding on palpation, I believe the standard of care is to order some imagining.

But livers can get sore and touchy for lots of reasons...including Xeloda itself. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK547986/

Thank you for the link! I didn't know about possible liver issues with capecitabine.

    Thank you LivinLife.

I saw the dr today. My liver enzymes are up. He is ordering a bone scan, CT of chest, abdomen and pelvis, and an ultrasound.

In the meantime, he prescribed pain medication so I can, hopefully, rest.
