HopeHeal, my IDC was Grade three and it has been 3years since diagnosis and treatment. If you scan signature lines across this site I believe you will find a good number of us had Grade3 and are now getting on with our lives. Hope this is at least a bit of a silver lining for you...

    Hope,

Your silver lining is you live in a time and place where you can get diagnosed and treated. There are lots of places in the world where you might not be so fortunate.

Hope, I'm sorry that the biopsy found IDC.

What you don't know, and won't know until surgery, is how much DCIS you have and how much IDC. Since the imaging showed calcifications rather than a mass, and since calcifications are more likely to be DCIS, it might turn out that the amount of IDC is very small and most of the cancer is DCIS. I'm not saying that's the case, but it could be.

Don't assume the worst - at this point there is still so much you don't know about your diagnosis.

True JHL & Bessie. Silver lining could also be that there are worse cancers, of vital organs for example. And yes the mass-less imaging, just because it's invasive doesn't mean it's large or has spread.

HopeHeal, I think you'll find that once the first reaction of the scare and anxiety of being tested and diagnosed is replaced with a plan and action, and post surgery pathology reports, you will see the silver lining of great care available and the fact that you've made it through. One day and one treatment at a time! It can be like a rainy day--you know the sun is behind the clouds and within minutes, hours, days, it shines again!

Thank you LivinLife & Ceanna. Making appointments to visit doctors now. I guess I'll move over to the IDC board.

Hopeheal: This part of the journey is the hardest. Being there twice how well I remember this. Until the final diagnosis and specifics are known the treatment will not be known. Please try to take in all the wisdom and encouragement of all who have responded to you. Cancer sucks but is treatable.
