Upcoming ultrasound core biopsy

Hi all,

I had a lot of tests last year, including most recently an MRI in December that had shown a lesion to have grown from 5mm in July 2020 to 12mm in Dec. I was supposed to have a surgical biopsy of the area in early Jan but chickened out.

Recently I was re-referred back to our public health breast specialist clinic, and the earliest they could schedule the ultrasound core biopsy and doctor visit was 10 March. I know that's not long away, but I've been having increasing discomfort and mild pain in one breast that seems to be gradually getting worse and worse. It's been going on for months and I just put the discomfort down to an old shoulder injury and being overweight, but now it's beginning to feel like a stone or a weight in the breast itself rather than the chest wall.

It's causing me a lot of stress and anxiety. I've been thinking about going to the GP to see if she can ask the public hospital to get me in earlier, but I don't think she or they will be able to do anything. Is it worth going to see the GP anyway?

Say it was breast cancer - which isn't likely I know, but bear with me here - will a couple of weeks wait before diagnosis make any sort of difference?
