TNBC and waiting for lung cancer diagnosis
Been here at the hospitalfor 5 days running test and some lung procedures including biopsies waiting on the results.
Been researching breast to lung metastatic cancer to prepare myself.
Any positive stories out there? Worried I'll get that it terminal with a small amount of time left.
Please help. TI

Lucyred, are they suspecting breast cancer that has metastasized to lung or a new primary lung cancer? Cause these are two different things. I have breast cancer with liver and lung mets so can answer questions about that.
When will you get the test results?
-
The fluid test should be back soon, I had fluid btwn my lung and chest wall, and the tissue biopsies were taken yesterday. I saw my other surgeon who handled my mastectomy who said her prior intern was involved I the surgery last night that said it didn’t look good. And the dr who talked to my husband last night said the same thing. I am thinking it metastasized from the breast cancer. I never had any other lung problems or smoked.
I’m just really concerned with my life expectancy with both now. My oncologist has been looped in on this too

O the waiting just sucks. So metastasized breast cancer would still just be breast cancer, not lung cancer. Metastatic breast cancer is incurable but treatable - for how long varies from person to person. (Btw, I do know a couple people with lung cancer, youngish, never smoked. I think something like 15% is in never smokers..)
Once you know more you will have a better idea of what to expect.
Anyway, whatever it is, hope you find out soon and can get a treatment plan started. Hang in there

thank you. Still waiting on these dam results. It’s so frustrating.
If it is a metastasis breast cancer then that would help qualify me for SSDI correct? I am so lost on all this. I am so frustrated

Lucyred, I'm in Canada so don't know anything about this but we have a thread about this where there are tons of knowledgeable people.
https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/8/topics/...
You should note that lots of people do continue to work with a stage 4 dx but that tends to be with slow growing bone only mets. Mets to organs like liver and lungs usually are more physically challenging. But don't make plans yet!
I was in school when dx and had to quit my program. No way I could have kept up... But it all depends on what's happening and what type of treatment you'll need.
Hoping for quick results. You have a daughter right? How's she doing?

Thanks Moth.
I worked part time through my first cancer and know it wasn’t easy then.
Drs are still waiting on all the results but oncologist is expecting it to come back as metastasized BC to the lung.
This is all just so overwhelming right now. Of course we’ll wait to see that the results are and what oncologist recommends going forward and figure it out from there

Lucyred,
I’m crossing my fingers for you and I am hoping you get good news.
As for primary lung cancer, one of my long time friends developed lung cancer and she has never smoked. She has been on targeted therapy with minimal to no side effects. It has been over 8 years since she was initially diagnosed. She is one of the most active people I know.

Hi Lucyred, just wondering how you're doing & if you have news
-
I just got the pathology report, poorly differentiated carcinoma is consistent with primary mammary carcinoma. So metastatic breast cancer it is.
So so sad.
-
Oh no. I'm sad with you
-
Hi Lucyred,
A hug from a TNBC friend.
-
Lucyred, another TNBC sister sending a hug to you.
Are they doing a Foundation One test for you?
-
I second Romashka- hugs to you both Moth and Lucy from a TNBC friend.
-
I too had a lung biopsy today. Waiting for the results is the hardest part. My TNBC already matatisized to the brai
-
I had my first treatment of abraxane and carboplatin. So far feeling ok but still recovering from the lung biopsy, pluerx catheter and port surgery all with in 2 weeks. Ugh hoping to feel ok soon.
I haven’t had time to research either of these med. MO did say I would lose my hair again but it seemed like less side effects then the ACT treatments
