I got my first ever tattoo today and also a tattoo to do with my cancer ❤️ Love it! So glad I was able to add the breast cancer ribbon in there. Let’s see everyone’s breast cancer tattoos!

Hray, cool tat! I like the way you incorporated the pink ribbon but didn’t make it the focus.

thank you! He didn’t do the ends of the ribbon like I wanted him to 🙄 I know it’s a breast cancer ribbon but I don’t think others can tell it is so I think I’m gonna go back and get him to add the tails of the ribbon so it actually looks like a breast cancer ribbon

I totally got the ribbon part. I am not sure if the ends might be distracting or add to it. Either way that is the point of tattoos, your expression. Both my 20 something daughters have tattoos and they are very personal to them.

I did a rough sketch to kind of add the ends to see how it would look. Tell me what you think? Does it add or take away from it? I don’t want to take away from the words I just want people to get why that part is pink

Just my opinion, but I think it looks better without the end pieces. Anyone who knows you have breast cancer should get it, but of course, it should be whatever makes you happy as you “go live” your life.

true. I can’t decide, I don’t want to get them and wish I hadn’t if it throws off the tattoo or they don’t come out exactly like I have in my head. Maybe I’ll live with it like this for a month and if it’s still bugging me then I’ll decide then. Thank you for your opinion! It really helps me see it in a different way mow

Any time. You are only a couple years older than my older daughter and I worry about both my daughters with our family history. They have an aunt on both sides diagnosed with BC in addition to my diagnosis. No BRCA, but the geneticist said some mutation is likely since my father passed from pancreatic cancer and uncle from colon cancer. Plus their mother, my grandmother, had BC, but lived to 87. Is there any other cancer in your family besides BC? If you don’t mind me asking.

there’s actually no cancer in my family at all on either side. I’m the first one to ever get any kind of cancer. Crazy that it happened at 26 with no family history and my genetic testing was negative for BRCA and all other cancer genes. So they have no clue where it came from

That is so random. I guess what they say here is true. It is all a crapshoot. I like your attitude and wish you well. Hopefully more people will share their tattoos.

hray, i think it's actually good without the ribbon ends but then I have very mixed feelings about the pink ribbon. I think this is really nice!

in a similar sentiment, I named a dog oLive when I adopted her during my 2018 treatment... really leaning into the live part :) I don't have tats. Closest I came was when I lost another dog and toyed a long time with doing a series of paw prints for all my gone dogs...but I ultimately decided against it. Now on chemo I'm too immunocompromised to even think about a tat.

    are you stage 4?

moth, no ma’am I’m not stage 4. I was stage 2 at diagnosis, cancer grew to stage 3 during chemo, then finally got knocked out with AC chemo so after surgery I was cancer free. I have been cancer free since august 2020

oh I'm glad hray! I was wondering because you've been posting on the stage IV only xeloda thread.. I think we need a triple neg early stage xeloda thread as more & more people are being prescribed it.

yes I agree!! I didn’t realize it was a stage IV only thread. I’m just on it because like you said I was triple negative and it’s preventative.
